By the sea

I've recently moved to the ocean and thought I'd let you all have a look at what I see through my writing desk window.  I hope you enjoy it.

My View

A breeze coming in from the ocean
sweeps across the salt marshes.
As it does, it stirs the moss
hanging heavily from ancient liveoaks
that I can see through the window
at my writing desk.

Each day I raise the blinds,
look out across the marsh
and watch the tides come and go.

White egrets can often be seen in flight
as they glide on four foot wingspans.

Brown pelicans dive from great heights
into the moving salt waters
grabbing unwary fish,
as seagulls, resting on nearby pilings,
watch with disinterest.

In the afternoons
when school is finished for the day,
children come racing up the street on scooters,
laughing merrily,
on their way to the water for a daily swim.

At night,
thunderstorms over the ocean
just a few miles distant,
turn clouds to crimson and yellow
and I watch as the colors are reflected
in the dark waters of the salt marsh.
The sound of thunder
never makes its way to ears
and as I look up
I see that my night is one full of stars,
somehow protected from nature's fury.

Michael I share a similar view and what a warming of the soul they make don't they?  This was a view that was masterly woven with your artistry of words, wonderful!
