Thanks, Titia, for putting my mind on the blooms in my backyard.

Lavender Gladiola

Lavender gladiola
singing glad “ole’s”
in the garden of their planting
on the summertime of days.

Waving “hello’s” and “good-byes”
in the sway of morning breeze;
drinking in the shadows
of their neighbor trees.

With grandeur do they willow
lithe and supple stem and leaf;
gloriously do they glisten
as they cool from sun’s relief.

Yet in the brief of afternoon
when old Sol glimpses rays
do they sparkle as princess beauties
in the better of their days.

Thanks, Slick and Victoria!

My gladiolas are ones my mother planted shortly after she moved in with me.  They are a wonderful remnant of her last years.

They sound beautiful. Are they really lavender? How special. You do nature poems very well.

My, my Virginia, this is a fine piece of writing!   You have some great images in this with a perfect rhyme scheme.  I really love this one, into my library it goes...

Take care,
Melissa~
