I was 6 years old, when we learned the news. How could something so bad happen to you? I didn't understand the big words they said. All night I cried while in the bed. I heard them talking, though they didn't know. Atop the stairs I heard the cries "No"! They talked about "poor little" me. How I would "take it",they just couldn't see. For my mother has a rare spinal disease. How would she or could she care for me. The Dr.'s said she wouldn't live long. This damn disease that's done her wrong. I told her I wouldn't let her die. Just then my mom began to cry. She said she would have to be in a chair. I told her that I didn't care. It's been 25 years now since that day. My mom's still here I'm proud to say. She's a granni now (make that x3). Her Dr.'s were wrong, she fought it for me. This is for my mom who always said she would fight a circle saw just for me.I love you mom! Dara Beth |
