The wild Abounding in personality. Peer leerily upon urbanity's inane domestication From natural hospice Of open lea Weeding deciduous walls Defy humanity's Exterminant repinery Dawn to dusk Unseen populace Unstill huff and decry The absurdities of civil meglomania Meadow's edge hosts Lop-eared hare grazing Intuitively ear to ground in silent sentinel fielding Perceptions of malintent Reliant rodentia Cavort sporadically about Dashing burrow to bunker Stalwartly bored and buffered From groundside mendacity Flickertails glide aloft Bough to limb Wherefrom but birds on wing Can safely soar away From merest hint of imminent injure Crimson dragonflies apathetically alight Oblivious to harm's capacity From pupa, grand monarchs flutter by, vying to see all despite life's brevity Dusk to dawn Nature's nocturnal vanguard stirs Frolicsome fireflies abuzz enlighten dusky twilight dale As festive holiday strand about conic evergreen Eve's sated doe leads twin fawn To forestland's parapet Defiant 'possum lay claim To mankind's nocturnal road Refusing compliance to his erosive way Ages of collective wisdom Harmonize in resounding crickets trill-ions of Vociferous reminders of strength in unity Erstwhile, distantly distinctive Domestic canine's frenzied bark Euolgizes man's animality As the anticity of the wild and free thrives symbiotically And a self-destructive indifferent world of Inhumanity dwells complacently within its concrete cave Waft every crest upon your destined sea Embrace the Wave of Serendipity Lest its elusive arcane ecstasy Refurl with sail for all eternity Nancy Ness [This message has been edited by Nan (edited 08-13-2001).] |

Crimson dragonflies apathetically alight Oblivious to harm’s capacity From pupa, grand monarchs flutter by, vying to see all despite life’s brevity Dusk to dawn Nature’s nocturnal vanguard stirs Frolicsome fireflies abuzz enlighten dusky twilight dale As festive holiday strand about conic evergreen Eve’s sated doe leads twin fawn To forestland’s parapet Defiant ‘possum lay claim To mankind’s nocturnal road Refusing compliance to his erosive way ======================= the imagery in this is superbly done... and I loved the vocabulary, as well as the creative presentation. There is much to take in here...both in vision and message... going back to read this beauty again. What a treat to have a Nan post today love your signature too jm I know no one is to blame |

You've captured the suffering inflicted upon the natural world so well. A tour de force. Thanks. |

Nan, I was surprised to see free-verse from such a structured gal But, you do write in free-verse so wonderfully with great imagery and flair. You were meant to be a poet~ As always, your way with words awes me Melissa~ "Poetry is not an opinion expressed... |

Thank you all so very much for taking a moment to stop, read, and enjoy. Living in the great outdoors does give one an appreciation for the magnitude of life outside of our doors... I'll see if I can muster up some more verses while I'm in the wild... The '?'... That one's thanks to Word's thinking for itself.. |

ok, first things first, what's a "malinent"? is there really such a thing as "rodentia"? isn't that a town somewhere in florida? i never met an apathetic dragonfly, very very cool! i bet your pupas at school will love this one! i used to be a sated doe, now i'm just a sometimes saturated doeween... lol....i had a "vociferous reminder" once, but i can't remember what it was trying to remind me!! this whole piece is very "symbiotic" and makes me symbathize with everyone living in a concrete cave.... geeeeezzzzzzzzz, you sure have gone au naturale on us or, er, umm.... nature becomes you... oh deer me, i have no clue what i'm trying to say except that this was one very kewl pome, l'il miss campergal.... do me a favor, k? oh but, remind me not to play scrabble with you again until i brush up on my vocabulary..... you should write more free verse more often, btw, seems you have quite a knack for it.... enjoyed this very much |

Ah Nan ... positively superb - a topic that's dear to my heart, and you've captured all so beautifully! The imagery in the sentiments portrayed, the links between "man" and "nature" so intricately woven throughout, right down to the "concrete cave", excellent! This was such a treat to read ... almost tickled the mind with the wonderful wording ... I enjoyed this immensely my friend! Best wishes, /Kit |

More appreciation to you all.. I can't respond individually, unfortunately - I can't stay online long enough to do so - But I really love that you've all enjoyed this - as I sit here listening to the birds chirp.. and watching a spider engulf the tree beside me... |
