Her Frozen Naked Thoughts

She was covered with so many layers
brown bags full of old feelings
zip locked longing
double bagged and frozen naked thoughts

One day she looked inside one
and was surprised to see how young
and full of folly was the content of lost youth
you see she had marked it such with the date
l960 something with indelible marker

She had been so afraid of looking within
until she did and found it
not full blown and pulsing
but withered and looking dumb

So she realized
that something as tiny as a sliver hurts
if left to fester
and a bag of frozen feelings
is too heavy to carry around
