The sound of wind as through the trees it goes swoosh,
The little squirrel, I spy, hiding behind a bush,
The many wonders Mother Nature doth provide,
Whisks us off and away as we lay side by side.

Abandoning now the sounds of the city,
No sirens, no traffic...to return, such a pity.

The cool of the breeze as we bask in the rays,
This wonderous environment continues to amaze.
The ground with it's rocks, each one placed with care,
To these things in the city, we become unaware.

Abandoning now the crimes of the city,
No shootings, no drive-by's...to return, such a pity.

The long, winding roads, the forest of trees,
The flies that hover, along with the bees,
These many wonders, at times such a pest,
Yet the relaxation of watching, such a well-earned rest.

Abandoning now the art of the city,
No billboards, no graffiti...to return such a pity.

Each tree has a meaning, planted with style,
The peace and quiet goes on for a mile.
Families will travel to enjoy this great scene,
The sounds so peaceful, the environment, serene.

Abandoning now the ambition of the city,
No head-hunting, no grievance...to return, such a pity.

The picnic a plenty, more than enough to share,
No thirst to quench, it's all right there.
Starvation's unheard of, we all learn to give,
If only in our world, 'twas like this to live.

Abandoning now the wanton city,
No hunger, no inhumanity...to return such a pity.

Alas, this excursion has come to an end.
Back to the abode we share with a friend.
To take a slice of this heaven back home,
Never to hunger, or be hurt, or to be alone.

Abandoning now this delightful reign,
Yet a new outlook on life we're blessed to gain.

Everyone needs a getaway from the city. Nature helps us to be more grounded doesn't it. I enjoyed the trip with your verse!

oh2beme - you have captured what it is like to be out of the city well. I will always take the serenity of the country any time...

To get away to a beautiful place brings peace if only for a short while. I enjoyed.

Throw your heart out in front of you
And run out to catch it.
