Life is Light
Virginia Salter

life is light
death is dark
no that just can’t be
for in my life
comes light and dark
to lift or tromp on me

when darkness comes
sorrow paints a frown
that strains the muscles
and the heart
yet strength to rise
into the light
draws a smile
that tops the chart

contrast is a brilliant thing
enlivens, well, one’s being
evoking interest, energy
charms me into seeing
superbly, splendidly
more wonderfully for sure
to doldrums, to apathy
affects a wondrous cure

so every day
in some fair way
may light and dark
both come to be
that I may see
quite radiantly
the blessings
given me

You've given some clarity to both light and dark for both are great teachers......
and I agree; without the darkness in my life, I would.not know the brilliance of light.

I love the way you've painted contrast in this very fine write...... Without the dark there would be no light and vise versa.
The flow and rhythmic rhymes were excellant.
