Fallen Angel
He would wait for her each night,
and when she would walk into the room,
seeing him would put a smile upon her lips
and a tinkling of laughter in the air.
He was her angel...

Over time, his gentle, caring manner
opened up those hidden places she
locked from all others.
She shared her deepest secrets with him.
Her heartaches and her triumphs ...
and it was a soothing balm to her soul.
He was her confidant...

He had a way about him that
touched her heart.
His opinion of her was always
greater than her own, telling her
she could do anything, making her
believe she could take on the world.
He was her friend...

But then the heavenly clouds
of illusion began to dissipate,
showing not an angel, but a mere man,
left standing on a pedastal that
she had too hastily constructed
and unknowingly made too tall.
He was a man of many faces...

He was still a good person,
and she was eager for an excuse to
relight her smile...
But he failed her, substituting a lie
for the hope that she was craving.
He was her betrayer...

So, that deeply seeded saftey switch,
installed in her heart by years of heartbreak ...
tripped...
Leaving his pedastal and him to stand in
the shadows, untouched by the
the rays of her light...
she turned and walked sadly away.
He was her fallen angel...

Now did I tell you the story about my angel, no?  Well that is another hour call?  Loved it, loved it! whoo hooo too!

I suppose mere mortals cannot be angels and angels cannot be mortals...yes we are only human and must forgive and expect to be forgiven in turn...hard lessons to be learned...James
