In an upside-down garden

I used to go
quietly
I'd walk you
slowly
to the door
hug you good-bye
and say
that I'd see you
tomorrow.
Now I go
silently kicking
and screaming
clawing and biting
at anything else
that comes my way.
We stumble
together
out the side door
and spend
a half an hour
each night
hugging and kissing
and saying
good-bye.
