Just Once

For once in my life,
I would like to be me,
a teenager allowed to be free.

Not kept from all,
nor kept in closed,
but free,
and open,
for all to see.

Just let me be,
and stop the hurting, pain,
and tears,
but most of all,
stop the fear.

For all I want is to be,
someone else,
someone who's happy,
unlike me.
