Dressed all in white and painted happy She smoothed her "priceless" gown Fixed her smile to icy warmth Pushed all anxiety down She turned around to confront a mirror as tears fell down her face The reflection staring back at her Was haunted with her hearts disgrace She remembered a time of innocence God, it seemed so long ago When laughter came with painless ease Why did she have to go and grow? It seemed to happen all so quick In one instant it was gone Was she not a child just yesterday But all matured by today’s dawn Memories reeled in her mind Memories of days gone by Her first "this" and her last "that" Everything she failed when tried From little ribbons in her hair To endless self pollution From sweets dreams and happy thoughts To endless persecutions The music began it’s first chord And she placed her foot into the church As her father took her arm Her stomach gave one final lurch Maybe this would solve her problems One step closer to the altar Maybe she could learn to love him Never let her mask falter Smile fixed in her endless guilt Wasn’t this her "special day" She closed her eyes and said "I do" Let her spirit get washed away Dressed all in white and painted mourning she faced her fears at last Fixed her smile to warming ice let her insides harass |

Lisa, this was great. I loved it. You wrote this so well, I think it's one of my favs from you. It really means something to me. I especially liked these contrasting lines: 'Dressed all in white and painted happy' and 'Dressed all in white and painted mourning.' This is going to my library. Keep em comin. .:tiff:. “A single choice can build destinies,or destroy them.” I know Im not perfect but I can smile & I hope that you c this heart behind my tired eyes [This message has been edited by knightlyshadows (05-13-2002 03:46 PM).] |

Yeah, wow, I liked this a lot. It flowed very, very well. I can almost relate with that woman, but I can't ever imagine marrying someone I didn't love, I'm just not the type. ![]() Jenn Why is it that we are at our most ingenius only when trying to destroy the things that keep us alive and thriving? |

Lisa, I honestly think this is very well written. You've expressed very well the feelings in the few minutes it takes for the bride to reach the altar. ![]() *sigh* Who said growing up is easy? I'm in the beginning stage of adulthood, and I can never stop looking back at the times when I can lead a carefree life, with few responsibilities, and lots of time to play. _,,,^.^,,,_ |
