She parts her lips,
the rouge of them contrasting with her skin,
a striking effect.
As her lips part
a single note pours from them
filling the air with shimmering glory,
and it seems to me
in that moment,
as if I could listen to her voice forever.
The note changes.
Words form on her tongue,
the beauty of the song so overwhelming
I know I could listen forever.

Yet I hesitate to call it merely a song,
for from her lips of rouge
it is so much more.
It is the windmill of time turning forever,
it is life and death,
and love and beauty,
all summed up in a single emotional second
that turns into minutes of heaven,
and I,
enchanted still,
suddenly hear other things as well.
She sings of jealousy,
of the futility of dreams,
bitter unhappiness,
and the beautiful daughters of the underworld,
all marked
by the rouge of their lips.

Never argue with a fool. He may be doing the same thing.

lol... Thanks... Now that I've sucked you all in by complaining, I feel like an idiot... but I'm happy you replied! *hugs*

uh... more? In a while. I don't want to post too often... I've been writing prose lately... and I can't post that here. So you'll all just have to wait.

damn this poem was great, full of images that stood out. i think you did a wonderful job of creating pictures with your word. as i was reading i could practically see the woman's lips moving in song and hear the words.  thank you for sharing this.
