Do you ever lie awake at night
and wonder what’s to come
think of all the mistake’s you’ve made
and all the s*** you’ve done

Do you ever think about
your future and your past
think of all the emptiness
and the shadows that it casts

At night the mask is taken off
your inner self divulged
you cant hide behind the facade
your scared and quite exposed

During the day your radiate life
your "happy" as can be
but no one can hide from the night
from the evil we cant see

The evil isn’t what we picture
there’s not a demon in sight
The evil lives inside ourselves
a never-ending fight

once in a while it escapes
unleashes havoc on our life
and as I lie awake tonight
it cuts through me like a knife

for evil thrives on darkness
when no one is around
when thoughts of life and sadness
are in my mind abound

I have never hurt someone
only inflicted pain onto myself
because I protect the others
from the evil that I’ve dealt

tomorrow when I wake up
I'll throw that mask away
I will be myself and only that
cherish my everyday

For seeing the days so clearly
Is a blessing you should know
to not be masked by the shadows
of depression, our dark foe

The evil was depression
lying deep inside my heart
It took many a sleepless night
for evil and I to part

Now at night I pray to god
that young girls soon realize
if you learn to conquer it
darkness is a blessing in disguise

I was drowning in my own tears, until you threw me a life preserver

Hmmm..your words reflect the sleepless nights I've been having and the battles I've been fighting and sometimes I feel like throwing the in towel..your words and very powerful..and could give anyone the strength to go on..

Don't ever throw in the towel. People will always be there to help. As alone as you feel during those sleepless dark nights, you are one in a million staring up at the ceiling and hating life. God knows I've cried myself to sleep more times than I can count. Next time you can't sleep, get on here and write a poem about how you feel....it helps a lot!
