A little birdie whispered to me, “Where’s the one you love?” I glanced up and answered her, “Why so ask, o curious dove?” She cocked her head, quite intrigued, And asked me once again. I mimicked her, and thus I asked, “Why so ask, o wond’ring wren?” “So that I might sing your tale,” She answered with a croon, “That she will know your loving words From dawn until the noon.” I smiled and replied to her, “I know not where she be today, Though I know she’s in my heart. Wouldst thou tell me, thou o bardic jay Why wonder where the wond’rous be, If thou cannot sing thy song by night? How canst thou sing of her glitt’ring grace, When thou’ve not seen her in the moon’s soft light?” The little birdie thought a bit, Then sung her answer soft, “Why should I need to see her face, When I’ve seen her smile make you fly aloft?” Why indeed, I asked myself, “Then tell me, o wise crow, How canst thou sing of her stunning eyes, When thou’ve yet to see them glitter in the snow?” This birdie answered with her laugh, “Why should I need to see her eyes, Her lashes, or her brow, when I’ve seen the way They make you grin, and cause your eyes to rise?” “Perhaps, o dove, thou should sing thy song, But sing it loud and clear, I wish for her to know my heart, Let her know my love’s sincere.” I smiled as I said those words, Then watched the birdie laugh, “In that case, you odd little man, “Perhaps you should tell her that on my behalf.” ------------- Woo-ish, no? I liked it...and it's a good relief from my recent case of writer's block. Dedicated to Julia. It may seem a little off on flow in some places, but it fits well if you read it the way I read it aloud as I was writing it....which probably no one else will...think irish-style semi-fast love ballad type poem thingy... Woo. "..light and 'chirpy'.." Been a LONG time since I've written ANYTHING that anyone would call light and chirpy....heh...I must be losing my touch. *goes back to writing depressingly groovy stuff in order to keep his reputation* -Adam "I like pigs.
