I know everyone has written a dedication to yesterday's events, but I was compelled to write one after I had read some of yours. So here is mine. September 11, 2001 The date was appropriate, 911 Buildings burning Stomachs turning People learning What this world has come to I can’t believe it’s true Has the world gone insane Obituaries read “death by airplane” City in ruins and thousands slain I can’t imagine what the families are feeling It’s still too early, can’t even begin healing Families are torn apart Painful prayers in a somber heart Brothers are dead and sisters were killed A nation in mourning from the blood that spilled Don’t know where to begin when we try to rebuild As we come together, we know we tried our best Care and pray and hope for all that will be laid to rest My heart will hold a place For every name and face And now you’ll lead a better life Living in God’s grace Dedicated to all those who were robbed of life in the terrorist attacks yesterday "Your anger is a gift"-Rage Against The Machine |

The best I've read concerning the tragedy. Your words were perfect, it felt as though you'd given it thought and put down each word with care and emotion. The title was also the best. How could our hearts not hold a place. It's words like those you've written that help us who can't find our own. Thank you not just for the beautiful poem but for the strength the resonates in my heart long after my eyes have left the words. And for the record, your more then "decent" at this. |
