My 1,000th post.. FINALLY!!!

Misplaced Dreams

There are different parts of myself,
I can keep so well hidden.
Your eyes that can instantly read me,
can be so unseeing to my heartache.
You seem so at ease, seemingly unbothered.
Do you feel the same sharp blinding pain
that strikes so deep in my broken heart?
Leaving my already scared soul
bruised, wounded, angry, and lonely.

I opened my heart and soul to you.
I revealed to you all my hopes and dreams.
I put my trust and faith in you
and those three words you whispered … I love you.
My heart longs to hear those words once more.
I miss the dreams that now won’t come true.
My heart refusees to let them go,
wanting the future you promised,
Simply wanting nothing more than you.

The distance and time between us
seemed to separate us for an eternity.
You told me it’s to hard, it hurt to much.
How could it hurt more than this loneliness?
Having our souls torn apart….our hearts broken.
Wasn’t our love worth fighting for?
Wasn’t I worth fighting for?
I could have held on to us forever,
you were my whole world.

Now I stand on my own … alone.
Trying to figure out the next step,
trying to discover and reclaim who I am.
You made me a different person, better than I was.
You gave me happiness, love, faith , and confidence,
and now you are gone.
I’m not who I was, I’ve changed.
Now I have to rediscover myself,
this person I’ve become with you, now without you

I know that I will move on… gradually.
I’m just at a loss on how to begin.
I have to figure out how to trust again,
how to keep these growing walls
from over shadowing my beaten heart.
I have to find the strength deep within
to have faith in the power of love.
I have to take the gifts you handed me
And somehow open my heart once more.

This poem was written a few months ago.. I am happy to say that my state is not as dreary! I have met someone new.. some one that has showed me how to take a chance on love again. Thank you Dave (you know him as NapalmsConstantlyConfused) for everything you have given me.. everything you are giving me, and everything you will give me .

It took me awhile to reach my 1,000 post but it was wonderful getting here. You all do not know how much you've helped me. Through your warm acceptance and caring words I found the courage to share my poetry.. with everyone... if they want to read it or not..lol. I sincerely thank you!
