Dawning After Night
Virginia Salter

Sun climbs the firmament
stretching its beams
painting golden faces
on the fronts of the eaves

Like yellow satin ribbons
they glimmer in the light
above the forest fern
a green and leafy sight

House plants reach east
to grab all they can take
drinking in the sunshine
like a frosty morning shake

I sit here and soak
though the temperature is chill
the morning light of dawning
with adept sun-soaking skill

Good morning, Friend
Good morning, Foe
Good morning, all you
on the go
stop and seek a bit of bright
from the dawning after night

The title of this poem is as beautiful the artistic lines beneath it.  Written so well.
You paint very beautifully.

Quiet Thunder, rumble
Through my cloud.
Touch my secret parts
Where only you are allowed.
Quiet Thunder, rumble my soul,
Reveal to me your power

Virginia, first, IWIHWT....second...it would be a lovely thought to think you had written this for me....third....since you didn't, I still need to let you know that I beamed with every line, for it is indeed, a keeper, and into my library it goes....

Virginia,
when you rise to greet the day, it creates beauty for everyone. Soft smiles.

Thought I'd drink me another morning shake.
Some things are worth repeating...especially real poetry.

Observe the animals and they shall teach you the nature of life in man. Observe the earth and it shall reveal the nature of life in God.

Very beautiful, Virginia! You've painted a lovely picture here! Hey, can I have one of those frosty morning shakes? (great line!)

thank you all, you've made some wonderfully encouraging comments on this one, one I had thought rather mundane until your remarks opened my eyes to some of the lines that are perhaps more unique, painting vividly with words is something I so try to do, thank you for showing me I sometimes succeed.
