I recall when Love arrived
all life I felt was mine,
squalls and storms we would survive
we'd ride them out just fine.

New passion always seems to thrive,
enlace and intertwine,
no rationale need it derive
it's graciously devine.

Then too soon we had to strive
to keep our Love in line,
When it gasped we would revive
it's terms we'd redefine.

But slowly most our talk was jive,
our logic asinine,
so lowly sank our Love that I've
the urge from it resign.

With baling wire we'd contrive
to avoid warning signs,
assailing Love as we'd deprive
it's truth we'd undermine.

I recall in Love's archives
our once sweet valentine
and all the ways that we connived
to desecrate it's shrine.

Wow....a very powerful write.  It is only in looking back that we can see these things so clearly eh?
Great job!

this reminds me of my poem "Stay Awake"

yours is a good warning to those who would take a relationship for granted, thinking it didn't need tending, that a love that is strong doesn't need to be fed and nurtured

good one

I would say, looking where you are. . .

Wow, I think your approach to this is excellent. Sad the way love changes at times, even in spite of efforts.

yes..new love is devine..unfortunately, it sometimes goes astray, and becomes something we'd be better off getting out of and starting again..

nice write..
