Virginia Salter the roses of May diffuse decay and lift my heart aloft their scent is honey of raspberry shave that touches my being, soft the roses of June sing “Claire de Lune” about my door they tarry and bring the girls of Osaka’s bay around by here to marry should you defy rose of July ‘twould be a bitter kill you’d likely end in forest glade spinning in Morgan’s swill so dance the rose’s summer tune and sing of garden’s play join the loves of wisdom’s glee as sweet rose carries you away © July 7, 2001 |

thank you, Melissa, don't think I've ever written in a way perceived to be classical...I will stash that away in my heart |

I always enjoy poems about roses! Mine are especially beautiful this year, because we've had lots of rain, I suppose. Anyhow, I'm enchanted with them. Lovely poem. Betty Lou Hebert |

Your summer roses have set my heart and mind to a happy frolic. I really liked the up-beat tempo of your poem. Makes me just want to lay down my burdens and do a little dance............ |
