Can I Help?

A troubled child
full of pain
striking out
yet again

Quick to rage,
biting and spitting
Nails dug in
sometimes hitting

What to say?
What to do?
Can you help?
It’s such a stew

Reaching out
with helping hands
How do you help one
Who can’t understand

How to control
the rage inside
That’s really somewhere
For the hurt to hide

You just keep trying
plugging away
And maybe it’ll make
a difference Someday.
