What if I were the last drop of rain to you
And rain would never come again
To pamper you
Tell me….sir
What would you do?
When you know that I’m
the very last drop of rain

Would you sit
Your steps lost
Your eyes frozen
Looking above
waiting desperately
Praying that that drop of rain
Would find its way to you?

Would you extend your hand
Open your palms
And hold it tenderly between your fingers
Wishing to keep it there
Forever
In your hand
Praying that you would understand
All the secrets
That that drop of rain would leave to you

Or
Would you carry it to
wipe your eyes
painting forever
All memory of her
Deep there
So her picture will linger
on your eyelids
as the soft touch of her would linger
on your finger
and so you’ll see her
Again and again
Or
Would you remain silent
Bringing her to your lips
Whispering to her
All the kept words
Inside you
As it melts between your lips
And you gave her your
Most yearning and tender kiss
Are you going to shiver
Never totally realizing
The total sweetness
Of the irresistible drop of rain
That would never come again
And feeling only glimpses
Of the paradise
Hidden within her frame
And the long thirst in you
Has been made longer
With the taste of her

Are you going to do all that
Or
Would you simply
Walk away
Never paying heed
For that last drop of rain
For surely rain
Would come again
And again?

What if that drop
Fell on your forehead
Softly trickling down
Down
reached your eyes
to be thought by
those who saw her
that it is a tear
shed by your eyes
but they told no lies
for it is a tear
shed by the lofty heaven

She
softly continued
and trickled down your cheeks
reached your chin
then
.
.
dropped
.
.
.
dropped
to be lost forever
forever
but
eagerly
your palm
held it
desperately
for you know
too well
the invaluable
breath of that drop of rain
that would never come again…..

what an interesting read... love the imagery and the way it took me along, carrying me with your thoughts, each tender bittersweet, each questioning...( sigh) this touched me...

perhaps the true one..would be to absorb the last drop and carry it inside... I don't know....

that is one the most beautiful things i've ever read.... full of intense imagery and the words were chosen perfectly... absolutely MARVELOUS!!

WOW, I have to tell you there are not many I print out for my "binder" and yours was printing as I was still reading Melody! What an absolutely inspiring piece of poetry for someone in what I call "heartlock", and the images and choice of your pondering and questions will offer somewhere for women to start to question their own happiness. Absolutely superb writing, and off to the battered women's shelter it goes for them to read! Fantastic.
