Listening to every heart

Dispatched ~ Adieu

dispatched gazes back o’er the week
which, with his passing, brought memories
of Lee, her beauty reminisce of grace
and their moments, captured, black and white
still, song of Roses haunted my night

Days of Wine’s music had invaded my mind
too early Thursday morning, so no shock behind
the news which, solemn, confirmed my sad
bringing recall of all that has
gone by these decades three

1969, senior prom, concept needed
so I shared music that sang my soul
Days of Wine & Roses became the scheme
we glorified the music, but not the mien
behind the movie's serious theme

how true it is, that galling imitation
of life is art is life of art: summation
be careful what you desire, for it
may come true as you conspired it
yet down wrong paths, transpired wit

so, to reminisce on past transgressions, gone
though lingers in my mind, that song
and Days of Wine and Roses, still
brings back certain youngish thrills
of ballgowns, orchids, and fervent wills

so, Lee, many years ago, we bade you farewell
Jack, adieu ~ tell Lee and Walt, we wish them well

Yes we wish them well for sure. This is very well written and reflects those things that are so personally important.      That was Andy Williams wasn't it?   Whatever... you've done a fine job here!

Great tribute to a great and entertaining actor. We all felt we knew him.
