Shannon, Come Back

She's on a road that leads to God
A road that I have never plod
For she has conquered certain strife
With strength and grace and joy in life

Shannon, please come back to me
You're heart is young, your spirit free
And I have yet to tell you this
You are my heaven's starry bliss

She is a dainty stole of lace
Of silken threads that line her face
Through woven veil her piercing eyes
Outshine the gleaming night time skies

Shannon, please come back to me
And walk in nature's ecstasy
For I have yet to show you things
Where starlings fly and swallow sings

She's given me a gift so dear
That I will cherish year to year
A charm of gold right from her heart
Around her neck, the other part

Shannon, please come back to me
Whatever is will always be
But I have yet to let you know
The depth of friendship you bestow

Shannon, I will promise you
A hill of green, a sky of blue
A bloom of white on apple tree
If you will just come back to me

Elizabeth Santos

Shannon, come back

words could echo Lady's call
if you will walk again these halls
that hold your name forevermore
we need you here, and even more

you need us, we're here for you
Shannon,
come back,
we're missing you....

prayers are said, a daily need
Shannon, come back,
our sanctions,
heed

You give so much my lovely friend
Yet life's travails this day you wend
My wish for you - God's strength be yours
Like tides' embrace upon our shores

Please Shannon, do come back to us
ImPassioned hands you may entrust
Our prayers for you heartfelt and pure
Life's burdens now may you endure

Our turn 'tis true to send you love
And give our prayers that He above
Might in His Grace to you impart
Blithe blessed days with peace of heart

From deep within our hallowed wall
I speak for Passions one and all
Your gifts to us voluminous
Please Shannon, do come back to us

I love you, Shannon
Nancy

Thank you, dear friends for the beautiful comments, and Nan, for posting a beautiful face to this poem. I don't know if Shannon can see this since she isn't using her computer. But I will try to get it to her.
Thank you all

Well you got me all in tears here.  Shannon I have never met you but I wish you well, and you certainly are loved here, so best you come back to the dear friends that adore you so I can meet you.  Elizabeth, your heart is so filled with love, and this is a real indication that it is filled to the brim!  How lovely for you to do this for your friend. God speed Shannon.

Written with such yearning beauty...

"Shannon, please come back to me
                                  And walk in nature's ecstasy
For I have yet to show you things
Where starlings fly and swallow sings"

Heartstirring  work!

                           "Shannon, I will promise you
A hill of green, a sky of blue
A bloom of white on apple tree
If you will just come back to me"

Ah Elizabeth my mind has kissed the beauty of these soulful words.

Inspiring, intriguing and insightful writing!

Elizabeth, this left me in tears... the beauty of the poem is exceeded only by the beauty of the poet and the dear lady it's written for.

Shannon, sweetie, I love you.

Liz,

If I'm ever to be blessed with words echoing these sentiments, I hope it is you who will pen them.  Your wonderful style and true heart are incredible.  I hope Pepper reads your words, and those you have inspired.
