through jade-hued eyes you saw my heart
a heart that knew only one cadence
the cadence of rhythmic solitude
a 7/4 compound meter that was
always one beat behind
or
one beat ahead of the counterpoint of life
and
ever dissonant with the harmony of love

this was the life that I led
the performance that I attended
and yet,
day after day
I would try to write on the staves
of my existence
the cadenza that would show you
the virtuosity of my spirit
and
the expression of my gift
something that I shared with many
       but something that few understood

yet, I continued to experiment, to pursue,
to chase the dream
the dream that I would one day write
the one piece that would transform my audience
reaching into their hearts and souls
with phrases and notes that they had never heard
knowing that I would find one heart out of them
that would vibrate to the key of me

and there you were
sitting in the last row of the hall
you had come late, but knew of
       the performer you heard
he touched you with every note
and you sat back with rapt attention
you longed to speak with him, to tell him
just how much he and his music
fed your heart
and made you believe again

so, you did
and, in that one moment
through jade-hued eyes
came the harmony

the
harmony
of
love

Most AWESOME, Sven!!  You "struck a chord in my heart" in terms of the musical analogies and the topic of love.  An incredibly artistic write with some very brilliant lines!

"...the cadence of rhythmic solitude

did you know that Willie Nelson always sings his songs either just ahead, or just behind, the beat...?

did you?

Aha...

thought so...

This is, of course, so SVEN....as to take one's words away...

Wow........applause

I loved this soooooooo much.....

"Play your music
and
I will listen till my ears drop
And all voices shut themselves down
I will listen till my world fades
And seizes to be
.........."

That perhaps would be her reply....

Just wonderful my friend ....

You must love a beautiful green eyed woman, from all of the references to jade I have seen in your work lately. You do love poems with such style.

to match the beat at your command
then out of step you'll never be
you made me smile...green eyed Kethry.

~Sir Sven Pen~

Gosh - I love it when you write like this!
Nothing I could say would do this poem justice,
so I'll just humbly echo what everyone has said above and add
uproarous   and many sighs of beautiful!

Take care

Elise, you know that I will my friend. . . thank you. . .

RS, thank you for reading, glad that you enjoyed. . .

Sandra, no, there's no one there. . . it's just that I've done blue-eyed and brown-eyed. . . and, for me, I've always liked green eyes, and when Interloper and Capt Hair did their poems on green (and emerald) eyes. . . well, let's just say that I've been inspired. . . thank you so much though my friend. . .

Kethry, and I know why we've missed you too. . .    thank you for your wonderful response my friend. . .

Liz, thank you dear Lady. . . your applause is humbly accepted. . .

Amy, thank you!  It's always nice to know that I can touch you like this. . .

Melissa, thanks. . . I like when I write like this too. . .it's been a while hasn't it??  Thank you. . .

vandana, always glad to see that you enjoy. . .
