In a corporeal internship...

0 posted 2001-06-27 12:59 PM

Sitting in the bus on your way back home,
The sight of a pretty girl makes your mind roam...
You stare straight ahead as she sits by you,
But in your mind you picture everything you want to...
The warmth of her body as it touches your skin
Your thoughts take you places where you've never been...
The softness of her hair as it falls on your hand
Your mind transports you into another land
And you wonder just how good Love must feel -- when it's real...

All of your best friends have a girlfriend;
You're the only one whose decision won't bend:
You found that perfect girl, and you hope and pray
That she'll change her mind and let you make her yours someday...
But 'till that time you're in this self-imposed limbo,
And you won't let your feelings show
If your dream girl could only see
How much faith you've got in her, she wouldn't be
So full of apathy...

Vicarious participation...
Vicarious participation...

You catch a sexy smile from a beautiful girl;
Your heart beats a bit faster & your emotions whirl...
Grinning as you pass her, you wonder why
You're always so inhibited and always much too shy...
Your idealistic mind never lets you forget:
One wrong move and you will always regret...
It's been said that patience is the greatest thing;
So if good things come to those who wait, then may your waiting bring
Your wish into reality...

Day by day you're becoming more of a success,
But you're still searching for happiness...
You're getting closer since you have faith in yourself;
You believe in your friends and in all your dreams as well...
But you still can't avoid a feeling of lonliness -- A yearning for her caring and a want for her caress.
And you can't help but wonder if it's really just you,
Or if other people ever feel the same way too,
But at least you've got some experience... in...:

One day the right girl will come into your life and you'll experience the "real thing".
Very good writing.

Like Phil Collins sang

"You can't hurry love
you just have to wait
cause love don't come easy
it's a game of give and take!"

Great poem Mark!

Thank you, friends, for your responses.  This was written over 10 years ago, but it's so nice to see a warm, caring response from all of you!  People like yourselves are what make this site so wholesome.  (I could have really used the consolations back then, though, let me tell you!).  As always, thank you for reading and sharing.

So now, 10 years later, you are happy. This is good
I'm thinking this is another song. If not, it would sound great put to music.

Yes, Sandra, this is from another song.  Emotions... well you know how they ebb and flow like the oceans we all love.  Just want to put some stuff out here from "a guy's point of view"...  Thanks for stopping by and reading...

Mark...you should try putting some of your work in Critical Analysis...they have an awesome way of helping poets who are serious about their work, to define and shape it...

should you ever be of the mind to do so....

I myself enjoy the way you've played with some of the words....

"And you wonder just how good love must feel when it's real."    Not sure if you are talking of romantic love or love love.  Enjoyed your poem...James

Thank you, my Lady.  I'll consider it.

James, I suppose that line is open for interpretation, but "real" love, in the big picture, is all-inclusive.

Thank you, Martie.  Some songs even have melodies you can't get out of your head...
