Virginia Salter Today I feast on dreams as succulent as raspberries of a June morn, as warm as hot chocolate in mid-winter’s play as comforting as Grandma’s quilt warmed by the fire as soothing as her gentle hand stroking away a tear as exciting as the promise of a pet of one’s own as heart-fluttering as love’s very first kiss as soft to the ears as baby’s coo as sweet as lilac’s ambrosia as lovely as Mountain mirrored in the lake dotted with birds a-wing and cumulus threads glistening with sun’s refracted rays to feathery rainbow boas Scoffers may say, you are such a dreamer, pick up your bed and walk close your pad and place your pen in its sheath stop your dreaming, begin life, labor, do your share. . . but without dreams, there would still be caves and someone scratching two sticks of wood together just to hear their sound, nothing more © June 27, 2001 [This message has been edited by VAS (edited 06-27-2001).] |
