Aloof? Perhaps Not
Virginia Salter

she sits forlorn
in the center of the room
looking one way, then the other
wondering  why her captor
seems to neglect
her wishes

she looks downward
paces to a corner then out again,
with a sense of melancholy,
she walks through the French doors
sits again
in the middle of the adjacent room

restless, she paces a circle,
then, with resigned determination,
turns, abruptly walks
toward the end, and leaps,
settling into a chair
to ponder her fate,
captive within,
while fresh air,
different scenery
call to her

almost sadly
she places her head
upon her paws
seeking dreams
that may invite her
beyond these walls
that are her domain
and perhaps
relinquishes, too,
that they are her harbor, as well,
from the curs next door
that would love nothing more
than to invite her to an outdoor barbecue

Poor pup...c'mon over here...we've always loads of leftovers to share from the plate, or from the open palm....

enjoyed!

heh heh, she's a cat, Ling Ling...the pic was a clue, though I thought perhaps the clues weren't quite enough.

thanks, Sunshine, for reading and the invite to my Perhaps Not, Aloof...cat.

Oh I miss my cat!  They are sure strange little critters, and I enjoyed this and the memory it also gave me, thanks Virginia.
