Whatever Is As morning light puts out the night And dewdrops shower early morn. I rub the dreams to natural sight And watch the golden shafts of dawn. I listen to the wind instead Whispering all the early noise The birds nearby that have not fled The ones that watch and wait in poise I smell the odors of new birth The flowers lifting up their heads The seeds that burrow through the earth The perfume that the breeze has spread I feel the power of the sun The chill is gone and warmth is here. I think on all this life begun And weigh my thoughts of interfere. But why do I think interplay? If I’m but a part of the day |

It's great we have a choice. We can observe or participate. Maybe put in store some birdseed. Good morning poem. |

Enjoyed the poem, it painted a nice picture for me of the morning, thought maybe you could have done a little more with the last line to tie it in. Just a thought, great work. |

What a wonderful read, the images are extremely vivid, I especially like the line: I rub the dreams to natural sight |

Interesting, such a pretty, visual poem, with a big philosophical question at the end. I never feel completely part of any of it, but this one makes me want to try to appreciate the morning more. Sandra |

Seymour~ 'I smell the odors of new birth The flowers lifting up their heads The seeds that burrow through the earth The perfume that the breeze has spread' Thank you .. I approach each morning with refreshing awareness of something new ~ Sometimes it lies upon the lawn ~ Sometimes it lies in me ~ *Hugs* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |
