Virginia Salter brilliance of dawning stretches past cloud cover peels it away to freshness of morn fills air, solitude sharpens contrast of bright, dark shadows deepen offer shade should warm come too quickly too greatly vibrant yellow-green abuts emerald haven of fern bed magenta spots peek through verdant leaves aside snow alyssum as it reaches out of café’d soil a prism of color enhanced by lustrous glistening bounces off all in its wake even I distant from its window entry sparkle as bright echoes my weather side and darkens my lee © July 1, 2000 |
