state of confusion

Bitter Berries

Why, my friend, must you insist
on picking only wild fruit,
when a plentiful orchard
lies just beyond the next ridge?

Is it the unexpected pleasure,
a quest for novelty,
or the taste for the untamed
that drives you so?

And what of poisoning?
Remember last time,
you kept eating those
bitter berries
because you liked
the feeling of them
on your tongue,
then you were sick
for days?

Come, come help me
tend these fine peaches,
soon we’ll have pears
and grapes on the vine;
no, my dear,
nothing exotic,
I’m afraid.

And Richard?
Don’t even THINK
about touching
those red mushrooms.

Lol......I enjoyed this, and saw so much in these words also.  Well done.  *s*

Gentle smile, Cor, what an interesting poem on the bitterness and dangers of forbidden fruit. Very well, done indeed, my dear friend.  Yes, I do believe the other is better for us and in the long run more tasty
