I’m tellin’ ya, I’m tellin’ ya,
he sure does make things rough;
decisions regarding medicine
and purchases are really awf’ly tough.

That ol’ Ralph Nader such an invader
protectin’ us his goal
but he makes me nervous his attempt to serve us,
when statistics take their toll.

When my daughter was a bit of a thing
and preventing horrid disease was right
I’d read his words, those awful words
‘bout death and other plight.

And just the other day, my friend, a new med given me
had scores of attributes to fear, but to forge on gallantly
was what seemed a must, I simply had to trust
ever’thing’d turn out fine,
for if I didn’t try, at least, it’d be end o’ my line.

Then today, deep in yard work
another ‘minder from that jerk written out as plain as day
to roll trash bin ‘bout the yard,
there’s really just one way

“Do not move with the lid wide open,”
-unsafe at any speed-
Now that’s ridiculous you know, for eight feet is all I need.
Four on the driveway, four in the grass,
what could happen, I’d like to know,
I’ll just move it carefully and keep it well in tow.

“Oh, that’s why!” I said to me,
as I pulled my head from inside,
then righted myself, my loathsome self,
as the Grouch, I almost died!

I surveyed the damages, done to body and soul,
I’ve got a bruise, that looks much like the line,
that’s drawn across a picture of banned things or a fine.
It’s just below my knee and I guess it means slow down,
follow the rules, set out for you, to prevent wearing a frown.
“All right, Ralph, you can say, ‘I told you so!’”
