Coffee Mugs

make mine unusual
thin rimmed and
deep
go ahead and allow
clear glass to
be the one
I keep at work

as mine

doesn’t belong to me,
the ones I brought in
have been picked
up
drained by
others

that’s ok

a predecessor left this
clear one
which now carries
my lipstick stains
no matter how
hot the water
or good the
detergent

I have marked it forever

and everyone
knows its mine if left
sitting
holding creamcoloredcoffee

best sipped
when
hot

coffee,
never
remains
hot
long
enough

nothing remains hot
enough

unless the fire
remains
lit

You know - I really really need some coffee right now, or some sleep.  And you knowm you're right, it doesn't stay hot enough does it?...LOL  This was cute, Sunshine, with an ending to ponder as well.

I like this =) I'm more of a tea drinker but I can relate all the same.  Lipstick stains certainly are a pain.  Hehe, I didn't intend to rhyme there!

Wonderful!

Ah, you speak such truth...may those important things stay lit.

I wrote "An Ode" to my  coffee, but it was merely that I think, you have spoken something else, as well, POWERFULLY!
