~* Birth Of A Poem *~

It is my breath.
I have to feel that seduction,
Of the pen in my hand,
See it, fondle and caress it,
For tonight our love creates.

My poetic soul,
Unusual, romantic and sensitive,
Serious and somwhat introverted.
Often rebellious, yet,
A joyous dreamer, lover of love.

My poetic heart,
It pounds in excitement,
Offsprings race with
Inspirations to my mind.
I sense a creation about to be born.

Sparks begin to fly.
Smoke becomes fire,
My fingertips and heart race,
As my mind is consumed,
With thoughts awaiting arrival.

Inspiration flows.
Creativity mixes with oxygen.
I gasp in excitement,
As my tiny infants,
Fall gently upon the page.

Words cry out with life.
Letters line up side by side.
Evidence of our union of love.
Ah, my chidren are delivered.
My poem is born!

music: Elan Michaels "Once In A Dream"

How original, and we all know the birth pangs, don't we

Ah breaching to life the light of thoughts and feelings. The terror of driving down the road and lacking a pencil or tape recorder. Beautiful Sharon.

Wow - very well done, Mysteria.  I never thought of my poems as children - but I think that hits the nail on the head, now that I think of it... They always resemble our character, our traits, etc. - no matter the source or inspiration.

Truly an exceptional read.

Irish Rose: Seems like it sometimes doesn't it?

RSWells: Did that ever stop you?  Na uh!  Seems to me someone I know would write on toilet tissue to save a thought or poem!

Micael: You got it!  That was the metaphor really and yes they are truer extension of us than our real children as they don't take on personalities of their own, they have to wait for us to give it to them right?  Thanks for reading and figuring it out (sometimes I am very off the wall) and now that you did...hmmm...what do you suppose that is saying of you?

Margie Girl: As Mother to more children than Mother Theresa, I can't WAIT to see what new meaning this will bring?  Hugs.
