I LOVED HER NOT She danced in dreams across the sky I beheld with a skeptic's eye; And bore a flame to warm my chill. I loved her not, but held her still. She dazzled with an ageless charm That somewhat took me by alarm; But held me ‘til fear slipped away. I loved her not, but bid her stay. And through this life - this tempest drawn, (The very darkness that I don); She's given all to shine a light. I loved her not, but bled her sight. Though Time has drifted, near and far, Questioning who and what we are; And proven her love true, indeed. I loved her not, save for the need. And still she held me above all, And still she ne'er questioned my call. God, why can't I just let her go? I've loved her, I just didn't know... Michael R.
