If only I could take the moon and place it in your hand If only I could be the sea when you walk upon the sand If only I could steal the sun and hang it ‘round your neck If only I could quench your thirst like the water in the beck If I could take your salty tears and make them diamonds bright If I could take your saddest thoughts and turn them into night If I could take your every wish and fashion a gleaming star If I could only paint your smile with a single stroke…Degas If I could stride the forest green and gather you every leaf If I could ‘light upon your hand with Butterfly….. motif If I could take the morning dew and place it in your hair If I could when your lost at sea……be your beacon flare If only I could be the words…to your favourite song If only I could be your days of summer…… warm and long If only ……is the longest phrase that I have ever written If only you could see my plight with your beauty smitten If only you would think of me and savour every thought If only that my love was free and not with longing caught If only this if only that ………….if only I had the time If only I was a poet……….. If only I could have written this... You see John I too have said "if Only" over and over and over and over and I will continue to say "If Only" over and over and over again I loved every line Maree  |
