Picking Up Stones

~*Marge Tindal*~

Had no use for all the sticks
hurled at her innocent name
But the cruel stones of anguish thrown
surely caused her shame

She picked up the hateful stones
laid them all in store
Then built a wall around her heart
so they could not hurt her more

Sticks and stones broke not her bones
but cruel missiles still meet their mark
Behind a stone-thrown wall she cries
for they surely broke her heart

You've shown how untrue the saying "words will never hurt me" is - and broken bones heal so much faster than broken hearts. This is beautiful.

So quick are we to repeat tales about others, and say hurtful things. Before opening our mouths about others we should remember that it could be us one day "Picking Up Stones".

"Sticks and stones broke not her bones
but cruel missiles still meet their mark
Behind a stone-thrown wall she cries
for they surely broke her heart"

WOW.  Well woven piece, Marge.  Too many petty folk out there and just plain stupid people who think they aren't being harmful.

Yes, my friend... and someone gets hurt everyday
by the heartlessly hurled stones from others.
Thank you, lady.

Welcome to Passions.
Thank you for the read and the reply.
Words do hurt .. and those who throw them need to know that they do.

INot2B~
I'm not one to 'repeat tales' and quickly let others know that I don't.
But many a heart has been broken by the cruelty of those that do.
Thanks for the kind reply.

Tiersdin~
Thank you.  I appreciate you.

Sudhir~

ouch!  this just aches with truth!
i could feel this one as i read the words.
it brought back some all too real and
   not so happy childhood memories...
this is an important reminder of how
much words can hurt...too often, we
forget the damage they can do.
   thanks for the remind...

   love and hugs,

Pssst...guess you really built the Great Wall of China?  Yup, this was a good one, and I remember every single stone too!  This one is too close to home, great message Marge, those stones hurt!

Sometimes they cut so deeply as to render the heart to stone.
At least it feels that way I think.

Marge:  Words can be as potent a weapon as a sword!  I've seen this happen and I'm sure you have too, or you couldn't write about it in such an impressive fashion.

Margie girl, always you know just what to put there for me to find. Love you darling sister of my heart.

Truly one of your soft and sad poems sis, and I love it, and the way this is written, executed as only you can.

Yes words can indeed hurt an awful lot, you and I have been thinking along the same lines love.

Take care

Not only have I 'seen' it happen -
but have felt an unwarranted blow or two myself !
Difference being ... I just 'chunked' 'em back from whence they came ! !
Thank you for understanding.

MarshaLove~
Yes, dear ... I know.
Rest assured that I would stand the watch were they to reign on you !
