On hot evenings, When even the birds Found flying too much To attempt I sought the coolness Of streams Shaded by gnarled Flood survivors That clung to cut banks Tenaciously with roots Like nightmare arms Exposed to daylight. Wading in, I would begin, Light line and tackle Cast time and time Till thought no longer Troubled the actions Nor ruled the mind; Which drifted… Beneath the surface Reflections of the day And tumbled over stones Long ago worn smooth From such journeys. Exploring depths In such a manner I did not drown Or flounder Helplessly alone |

Oh yes, big, wonderful smiles... now that I've had my vacation for the day... duty calls! |
