Our Hannah came to see me yestermorn.
Hannah?  You will remember her I know.
You met her on the glad day she was born;
Our wondrful, pink bundled, Hannah Jo.
Suddenly she's nearly six months old.
Plump as a boiled raisin she is, and so
Broadly smiling and excitedly bold.
Wanting so much to just get up and go.

We take a long stroll around the yard.
She uses her mother's strong legs and arms
To take her there.  The new found sights bombard
Her blossoming senses.  Hannah charms
The birds and bees, as easily as she
Is enchanted by them.  All things are new
For Hannah, and for her mother and me
The wonders are now seen with fresh eyes too.

Very soon, Hannah will be trying food,
Other than her mother's nourishing milk.
For Mother this is sad, for Hannah good,
The fraying of those slender bonds of silk.
The whole world is expanding before her
And she can see no good reason to wait;
Fervently inquisitive and eager
To unlock an inhibiting closed gate.

That is the sweetest age! But enjoy every minute! I was blessed with the privelage of being able to stay home with my kids and I didn't miss a thing! My "babies" are "kids" now--and how I miss the Disney movie nights and yes, even playing candyland and Mousetrap! But Joyce? It's ALL good.   Enjoy! and thank you for that poetic Kodak moment!

Oh I remember this exact memory, and I am so excited as in November I get another one to play with and watch "firsts" all over again, enjoy as they grow so fast, and each second spent with a child is so terribly special!  Oh I loved this.

Oh, I truly love this piece.  Beautiful!  The plump raisin line is exquisite!

May I send a copy of this to a friend whose baby is also 6 mos. old?

Thanks everyone for your comments.  Six months is such a wonderful age and one knows it is not long that you can have them so completely to yourselves.

Vas  Certainly you may pass it on.  Thank you.  Joyce
