You are There in the Sunset I know not where you found your peace In tropic lands or in the East It’s on the other side of earth So distant from my place of birth I know not which direction lies The stillness of your pensive eyes It is a place of calm serene Just like my lovely hills of green But when there is a sunset sky I see you there, I know not why Vermillion streaks and golden hue Insite the passion I once knew As twilight darkens mountain peaks The sky is lit with silver streaks Fanning out in piercing beams And there the source of all my dreams I know not where you find repose It is a question no one knows But you are there beyond the hills Where silver dreams o’er mountain spills The light of hope shines from afar No matter where your loved ones are And so I watch the sunset sky To dream, to think, to ask you why Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 06-17-2001).] |

I'm in awe here, hard to pick a favorite line but this one was so gentle on my mind..... "Vermillion streaks and golden hue" Well done, Elizabeth! "This rose has seen red, I have been blue |

So beautiful and complete, a absolutely "perfect" poem. ~*~ Remember to tell someone today that you love them as tomorrow may never come ~*~ |
