 ~*~ The Tooth Fairy Visits Samantha ~*~She didn’t want to go out and play, Or have her imaginary friends for tea. She’d lost her front tooth and was sulking, Hiding underneath the willow tree. That day, a little, lost fairy flew into her window, Somehow, someone had left it open just a crack. She saw the little girl crying on her bed, Got an idea, and knew she had to come back. So the little fairy returned on that very same day, Bringing with her, some magic, and a fairy friend or two. The fairies wanted her to come and play outside; Now, this was not really something fairies normally do! They pleaded with her to please come outside and play, It was a wonderful sunny day after all, They offered to take her hand and lead into the garden, And show her where they lived in the grass so tall.  Well Samantha decided to venture outside; She was delighted and didn’t know what to say. But she figured they would not laugh at her funny face, So she went out into the garden with them that day. They took her to the middle of the garden, Underneath the big, weeping willow tree, And there to her delight were fairies of all kinds, She began to laugh, and clap her hands in glee. They lived under flowers and in tiny mushrooms, And glittering fireflies supplied their only light, The fairies said they would show her more, And they would come and get her tonight. She could hardly wait for everyone to go to bed, And waited by the window for her newfound friend. She wondered what adventure would await her, And where this evening’s journey would transcend.  She made sure to dress warm, put on warm boots, A sweater and a cap in case the evening got too cold, The fairies had said they never knew what adventure, Would take place, when a fantasy would unfold. The fairies came in a chariot, pulled by a dragonfly. In an instant the fairy sprinkled her with magic dust, She became very small as she boarded, and waved goodbye. Then held on tight to the reins, as safety was a must! She flew high over a cellophane sea, on moonbeams ever so clear, Everywhere there were fairies flying in the evening sky, On wings of owls, butterflies, dragonflies, and even bats, Everything imaginable, she saw from her little mind’s eye. Daybreak was dawning, the fairies took her home, What a great adventure, being sprinkled with fairy dust, She asked the fairy why they only did this at night, She said, “Samantha, I’m the tooth fairy, it is a must!”  She explained that children always put their tooth, When lost under their pillow in the dark of night, And how really silly it would be to leave a token, In exchange for their tooth, if outside it was bright! Samantha sat with head in hands, listening to the tale. She said, fairies have to stay invisible for a wish to come true, And they take a tooth or teeth, when children sleep, It is just a law in fairyland, something that they do! The sun was beginning to rise up over the mountain, The fireflies were starting to loose their light, The dragonfly slowed somewhat; the fairy gave a sigh. And said that her work was done for another night. Sharon...this was precious...and Casey was standing behind me as I explained it was for Sauni's little girl that the tooth fairy had visited, and she got a huge thrill out of it...the music and the background were enchanting. I am certain if she were old enough to read, she would have been mesmerized by the beautiful dedication just as mommy was! Very lovely, and I know that Sauni and her daughter will treasure it always! Darn it!! I'm way beyond having a tooth fairy visit me. I loved the story and adored how the music box wound down at the end of the reading. Marvelous. "I am not now that which I have been." |
