Holiday Blue

~*Marge Tindal*~

She sang blue
a song or two
Sing of shade
darkened blue
Sang her song
then slips into
ordinary blues
of deeper hue
Lady Day they
idolized-wiping
tear from her
eyes-sang her
song then upon
darkened blue
Lady no longer
sang the blues

Tribute in memory of
Jazz and Blues Songstress
Billie Holiday
April 7,1915 - July 17,1957

Marge, I don't know of this singer but your writing was excellent, as always.

Logan~
She had such a lovely voice to ring across the radio waves.
I remember hearing a unique quality she had of singing just behind the beat of the music ...

LovelyLizzie~
Glad to stir a memory or two, sweet lady.

Saunni~
LOL ! ...
Ahhhhh, youthful one ... glad you liked it !

Now I am not lying - I had her CD on when I came to Pipps this minute!  Is that weird or what?  She is my all time favorite, along with Chet Baker, and there is another tragic story.  This picture has always said so much to me.  I am rambling but what the heck - the year Lady Sings the Blues was nominated for an oscar was the year Lisa Minelle was nominated for Caberet, and I was livid when this movie did not win, as Diana Ross did her justice big time.  Thanks for this tribute to one of jazz's greats.  Got one for Dorothy Dandridge?  Pushing my luck?  Guess you figured I loved this   You bet!

Nothing is strange to me anymore ...

Excellent tribute to one of the greatest of all time! She opened the doors for many female jazz and blues singers to express themselves more openly. Today, fortunately they are still doing so........great words of dedication Marge!
