I See You’re Apparent
Virginia Salter

What shall one leave their children
what legacy shall remain
what will be left when monies
and estate are gone with shifting sand

When trinkets, artifacts
have rusted, broken or turned to dust
when photos are faded
and letters have crumbled

What gems shall remain
in their eyes, in their hearts
what wisdom and tales
in echoes will impart

What threads shall endure
in the quilt of one’s making
what batting shall cushion and comfort
what bindings shall tie everlasting love
to the endowment one has left
