I let myself down.
Hard to please, easily deceived.
I kept everything within.
Innocently, I failed to see what was in front of me.
Thought I was strong,
Thought I was smart.
But more naive, I couldn't have been.
I deny reality,
chose to live a fantasy.
I let myself down.
Thought I was proud,
but swallowed my pride.
Put my head down,
and continue to love you.
And this love became a monster that ate me inside.
I don't blame you,
I blame myself for loving you this way.
At least now,
Ther's no more pain.
I'll learn to live without you,
and with my new self.

You just have to go through all stages Walker, can't be helped, because you are such a sensitive person (thank Heaven you are).

Take heart there is
a "New Self" upon
which to bestow
yearnings lessons
you see and know

This poem captures so much, I can only express my compliments. To delve deeper would remind me I lack a new self. For some things there is no recovery.
