Backyard Study Virginia Salter shhh. . . there. . . look. . . . . . monarch butterfly atop cadmium yellow daisy in metronome swing as breeze leans it to and fro in fox trot time wings beating syncopated rhyme as nectar’s sipped through curved proboscis unrolling as if midnight’s noise maker calling up new year sunlight glistens off dew drops like so much starlight sparkling day hours in the distance honey collector hums a rhythmic tune “get a little nectar sing a little song busy, busy hours working all day long” and we poised watching, listening nature’s concerto unfolds dressing our eyes with cleansing moisture © June 15, 2000 |

This is wonderful, VAS. I observed and chased so many in my grandmothers garden, sigh, well at the expense of some of her flowers also..thank you for the memory...gentle smile |
