Split shale tumbles And smoky mesquites, Clinging to inclined Evening shadows, Hide the jagged Edges of day, But not bruising Ankle twist Of mind Dun colored dust Rising with Each evening step Settles slowly When the breeze Which wheezed Asthmatically earlier Gasps no more And layers of Past coat one’s Tongue Small wonder Of flickering fire With sparks chasing Each other into empty Sky vie with early stars For dominance, But offer no light To find a way Home. No emptiness creeps So surely into mind As when another day Is spent without Sweet water smiles |

The imagery of this leaves one's throat definitely parched... until the very last, refreshing line... Bravo! |
