Scenes From a Bus Virginia Salter Magpie flipping tail pirouetting a log aside a stream in sunlit spring. Bovine herd convene in golden field seeming to cuss, discuss the value of beef on the hoof. Snow-edged hills perimeter horizon like giant orca leaping ‘round rolling pastures. Winter stands in puddles reflecting April skies soil filled with cracks, footprints of spring runs. Barren snow fence stands a useless sentry ice fence, more skyward, crawls across hill’s brow. Evergreen villages nestle in each valley’s fold snow ponds slumber at their feet. Tamarack, pine reach for clouds with cedar, fir, spruce mingling their diversity. Boulders huddle conversing geologic eras their journeys across eon’s fields. White foam running, leaping river’s obstacles in haste to reach the valley floor. Ten, tall, buckskin ears adjust their reception of bus’ rumble up the grade. And we carry on. ©April 1, 2000 |

Virginia? I thought this quite brilliant...I loved the imagery, paced like a flip-book, each image methodically drawn out, yet in detail....loved it. -----sorry had to edit, but love the title too...Scenes From a Bus...? Thanks again V. [This message has been edited by serenity (edited 04-04-2001).] |

VAS, Your title brought me in - I just had a horrendous 24 hr bus trip that, had I driven would have been only 13-15 hrs., and believe me if I had what you painted to look at and enjoy- it wouldn't have been half as bad as it was. Nice scenes, nicely put. Panne |

Thanks serenity, Panne and Bob for your encouraging comments. And Bob, I'm thrilled you chose that line, as thrilled as I was the day I saw those 5 deer take heed of what they were hearing. |
