He's been writing in his journal
for quite a while now,
hoping someone would see his pain
and end it all some how.
He's not quite sure how to handle
all the pain he feels inside.
Maybe it would fix it all
if he simply chose to die.
So he steals some of his grandma's pills
and he's just going to go to sleep.
Hoping his mama will forgive
and the Lord his soul will keep.
So he cleans his room
and he hangs his clothes.
He shuts the blinds, turns the radio on
and makes sure the door is closed.
He lays down upon the bed
and he gets ready for the end.
Suddenly there's a tap on the door
and his dad wants to come in.
He hides the instrument of death
and nervously bids him come.
His dad sits on the edge of the bed
and says "I'm proud to call you son."
His dad clears his throat, looks him in the eye,
whispers "I don't say it near enough,
but every time I look at you
my heart fills up with love.
You're the son I always wanted
and the man I hope to be.
And these thirteen years I want you to know,
you've been a blessing to your mom and me."
With a kiss on the cheek and a tear in his eye
his father said good-night.
With pills forgot and new hope bought
he lived to see the morning light.
To this day he thinks no one knows
what that night had held in store.
But his daddy had known all too well.
He had read the journal the day before.

Isn't that what we all want...to be noticed by one, and loved....or at the very least...liked....

Interesting...but what's scary is no one had a clue until the dad read his diary...
reminds me of the Beatles song "She's Leaving Home." James

A heart touching message in this one TA...we
should all reach out and touch the ones we
love...while we have the chance to love
them...never passing up a moment to say "I
love you"...this is a powerful message that
we should all pay attention to...great write~

Sunshine -- Ah, just to be loved. Doesn't seem too much to ask, does it?

James -- I'm not familiar with the song but it is scary that so many people don't know their children at all. But looking back, I don't know that my parents knew me at that age either. There, but for the grace of God...

Butterflies -- Thank you for that kind reply. Do you ever think about how many people are just praying that someone will say those words to them? Ah, the chances I've had to brighten someone's day...

Sven -- Thank you so much! I'm not sure where this one came from, but I enjoyed the write.

Nathan -- Thank you, thank you, thank you! What a lovely response.

to be with you...
I've tried to hide my passion,
but it's just no use...

when you walk into the room...
