Don't say you love me

don't say you love me, it's just words
seems to be a phrase too often said and heard
I want to know how you truly feel
need to feel where actions and words are real
more than just a reason to get through the night
no morning take you off in rapid flight
where it's hard to leave and start a day
where you have to pull and drag yourself away
words alone... are so empty and just echo
and in the end... break a heart, you know
it has to be more than things you say
the way you live your life...make them stick and stay
yes, it's true...actions ALONE are the glue
that bind the words together.....I love you

I disagree on some level...not all though..
Still, it is a beautiful poem.

I agree with Temptress--this is a beauty! Smooth and to the point, and yet somehow lilting! I enjoyed this, very much!

1slick_lady,
Words can say so much or mean so little and leave a taste so sweet or so brittle.
Hope they sweeten up for you.

I think this deserves a response . . .

Nice ending. I enjoyed this piece. From sadness comes strength.

Words backed up by actions are very powerful.  This was neat!

Very well written, relates the feelings we all have with love at one time or another. I applaud your verse!

sometimes though. . . actions don't convey what words can express. . .

excellent. . .

very good job.......some people say those 3 little words too easily.....lose all meaning in them.   Those 3 words are the most powerful words around,  they have the power to put you on cloud nine......or bring you to your knees.   Its too bad that we can't control the environment in which it is said....or how.
