I’m throwing my coin up in the air
for just one moment do I dare
to rhyme and feel
and make believe
a few more minutes till I leave

This screen of blue has so inspired
the words that my heart has desired.
I know it’s only make believe
but still I do not want to leave.

It’s spring and my fancy has returned
but now, per chance, I may get burned.
I’m honest, no games played you see
and what you read is always me.

I never flirt or flatter when
I do not mean the true intend
For this has been inspired this night
by one who free verse takes it’s flight

Her name is D-O-R-E-E-N
and she’s no scrabble queen
but if she were a game you know
She’d be the winner, not just for show

She bares her life within this place
mascara running down her face
and cries for full of moon and wane
but never do I hear complain.

In fury once I read of times
that drew her to believe in rhymes
I’m telling you she’s on the stage
not just a poet on a page.

She dances sweet in soft ballet
I think, I hope she’s here to stay!

you should see my pillowcase... ... oh god... how wonderful this poem is... you are very sweet, dennis... i cannot thank you enough.... thank you for SEEING me.... i'm here... a bit of a disappearing act, but still... it's all real and so is your poem and this is such a sweet, wonderful gesture... thank you SOOOOO much!!!!

i'm tired and going to sleep and i will dream of the kind man who was so generous to write me a poem... you're a doll... thanks YOU, very kind Dennis...!!!

these kind of things don't happen for me often and i do appreciate it more than you know.....

an excellent poem for a great lady and to say that Doreen is not a scrabble queen and still have her like the poem takes talent!!

Well you are loved girl! Enjoy it! Dennis, you are something else...do you have an older brother, much older...LOL. This was just great, and I loved those same two lines as well, as no one sees behind the screen and half the time we write in tears so you have our number. Great tribute to a wonderful poetess.
