Thoughts on Ground Swell*

I've often wondered why I stare
At other than the foreground rudder.
And even though the crescent where the tiller attaches
Compares similarly
With the arm and hand that grasp it,
The portals formed
I'm not inclined to enter.
Nor has my skinny self,
Reproduced
Belly tight and bracing youth upon the foredeck,
Yet to draw a second look.
Perhaps it is the white cirrus
That rivets.
That could be right
But for the fact that such takes heat,
And, as you know, at that height
Clouds are ice.

* A painting by Edward Hopper.

You write of things I am unfamiliar with, but still, I believe I could reproduce the images that you see....

so I enjoy, nevertheless....

thank you!

Decaflame...Thank you for the comment. If you care to have a look at the painting I think that it can still be found at http://www.marineart.com/PIC/text/hopper.shtml.  Enjoy.   Bob  PS... maybe not...try yahoo, typing in CGFA-Edward Hopper. That should give you his paintings.
